Conference Announcement
"Dante Alighieri"........ was back in Makuhari for the INTERSPEECH 2010 Closing Ceremony
Dante (1265-1321) was born in Florence. Dante is famous for "The Divine Comedy" and other works. He was active in the politics of his time. He lived in exile for the last years of his life.Dante Alighieri, known simply as "Dante," is often considered the finest poet of the Middle Ages and is best known for his epic La divina commedia ("The Divine Comedy"). He was also a philosopher and political thinker. He wrote most of his poetry in the Italian vernacular instead of Latin, a choice that would influence the entire course of western literary development. In other words Dante is the father of our wonderful Italian language and that was the reason why we have chosen his image in our INTERSPEECH 2011 poster and flier and also for this, I hope funny, camouflage at the closing ceremony of INTERSPEECH 2010 in Makuhari. ........ by the way..... the hat is a copy of an original 13th century florentine hat which was usually weared by Dante ...and it was kindly home-made by my wife!
Thanks to INTERSPEECH 2010 Organizers, we hosted a booth in Makuhari announcing INTERSPEECH 2011 in Florence
