Special Session reviewing is now complete
The Special Session review process has been completed and the Technical Program Committee has made its decisions on acceptance and rejection of submitted Special Sessions.
The process for evaluating the special session proposals was the following. We set up a Special Session Committee and each member gave a score to each proposal based
on which the proposals were ranked. Various criteria were used including adequacy with the conference theme, combination of academic and industrial interest and
others. The committee set a threshold and dicussed the borderline cases. The final decision on proposals is the result of this procedure.
Almost all the proposals for special sessions looked interesting but it was indeed impossible to accomodate all of them, and, in fact, we could only accept less than 40% of submitted proposals!.
We would like to sincerely thanks all the proposers and we are sorry for not being able to accomodate all the requests.
As for not-accepted proposals, we feel confident that sufficient papers in those areas will be submitted and indeed we encourage proposal leaders and the potential contacted contributors, to submit regular INTERSPEECH papers.
We look forward to seeing you at INTERSPEECH 2011 in Florence.
Sincerely,
Amanda Stent, Mauro Falcone
